It is 5:39am and I just got back inside from an hour long fire alarm (there was smoke in the dorm building across from mine). Welcome to Southside, Liz.

This whole thing with Don Imus being suspended (and hopefully fired) from CBS for his discriminatory comments makes me so angry. What the fuck is wrong with him? "Nappy-headed hoes" is both racist AND sexist. And to think he thought he was being funny by saying that? PRICK. What would prompt him to call them that? Because they lost the championship? Criticize their game, not their genetics and their sexuality. It does not matter if he was quoting a movie or not, it just shows how he has no concept of what should and shouldn't be said in our society. Completely outdated. And the fact that he has said plenty of racist/sexist remarks on his show before this doesn't help his case, that's for sure.

I found this article that talks about it and I think it's really interesting:

Yeah how about I woke up at 10am when tickets went on sale and they sold out at 10:03 :(

CAN LIFE GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS? Yeah, maybe if like Elliott Smith came back from the dead and played a show just for me. BUT THAT IS ABOUT IT.

I was introduced to Girl Talk tonight and I am in love. It's a good thing when I have 2 papers and a test next week but all I care about is the next few months coming up. It means I'm enjoying my life for once.

I am SO PLEASED with the Oscar nominations this year. I haven't seen Dreamgirls and I don't want to. It got a lot of nominations but nothing big so who cares. There are a lot of movies on there that I've wanted to see but haven't so I might sign up for netflix (I've been meaning to anyway) and order some of the ones I missed before the Academy Awards.

Full list of nominations here: http://a.oscar.abc.com/nominees/?pn=list

3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button

This week is going to be busy and stressful for me so I apologize in advance if I don't talk to anyone that much. Things I have due:
Thursday
Mass Media: 3-4 page paper on Can't Stop Won't Stop (which I haven't read much of)
College Writing: Conference draft of a 3 page paper (this shouldn't be too hard)
Friday
Views From the 3rd World: 6 page paper on the Gandhi movie that I still have to finish
Interpreting Literature: Presentation on Paradise Lost and Frankenstein. Ugh.

This doesn't include the random hw from math that I'll have to do.
Oy.

Everything is happening too fast and I want more time to spend with friends/run all of my million errands I have to run. If I don't get to see one of you guys before I leave I apologize. On to bigger and better things...SNAKES ON A PLANE!

I went to the early screening tonight at 10pm. I was a bit disappointed that more people weren't in the theater. This movie better get big box office numbers or I'm going to be pissed. The movie, however, did not disappoint. Seriously...it was a decent movie. Sure the plot is ridiculous and the dialogue is pathetic at points but the action is great and the acting is pretty good (I was very surprised by that). I really appreciated the different ways people were bit. Mad creative/funny. The actress who played Cher in Clueless the TV show had a pretty big supporting role. She basically played the same character. Kenan Thompson was funny. & my man, Sammy L., was magnificent. I think an acting nod is in the works.

Convo with John. Sort of a spoiler )

Ohh just so everyone know I don't think I'll be moving into school until Sunday or Monday since I still have a lot of shit to do. More time with my ladygirls! But not much since I have to, you know...be productive.

A lot happened this weekend.

Saturday night me and Mer went to Pathmark to get a few things for the beach. We got home around 1:30am and as I was getting out of my car I heard really loud tire-screeching. I looked over and saw a drunk driver driving across Mr. Scandiffio's (my neighbor) lawn and then proceed to lose control again and almost drive into our drive way before heading the other way and recklessly drive up Massachusetts Ave. I was so scared. We called the police and described the car and where they were going. It was scary. I saw Mr. Scandiffio outside this morning so I went over & talked to him for like 10 minutes. He thanked me for calling the police because this is about the 3rd time someone has driven across his lawn, however, no one has ever seen it before. But now they have a description of the car. I done good.

Thursday night Me, Dennel, Anne, & Cassie were in Dunkin Donuts in River Edge. A guy came in wearing only his boxers and wife beater. His boxers were not ordinary boxers. They like dipped down in the front...resulting in us knowing that he shaves. It was rather traumatizing. Wish you could have been there? Don't worry, I took pictures! )

Yesterday I went to Island Beach State Park with Mer and Meex. Although it was raining for most of the time (& I got eaten alive by those fucking biting flies) we had fun. We decided to leave when Meex called her mom and we found it would be on and off rain for the rest of the day. Once we were all packed up to leave the rain stopped and the sun appeared! Timing is everything, huh? We left and drove around Toms River for a while and decided to eat at Friday's. We got home by 5pm. I fell asleep on the couch at 5:30pm & didn't wake up until 7am this morning.

Beach pictures )

Good times.

Rimi, I am so angry that you can't be enjoying what should be a wonderful time of your life. You should be excited for college but you can't because countries are fighting over things that you have nothing to do with (to be honest I have no idea what they're fighting about. Soldiers you said?). I don't want to imagine what it is like for you right now but I should. I always think of us as equals even though we're from two different countries/cultures. We're just two 18 year old girls who care about the things all 18 year olds care about. But I don't have to live with bombs destroying my city that I love every day of my life. I don't have to live with the REAL fear of death every day. That's how we are different and I don't want us to be. I want it to all be OK. <3

In other news, I'm pulling my first all nighter today! I'm going to bed ASAP. I'm really tired.
